The Tiradentes University (UNIT) is a private Brazilian of higher education founded in 1962 with units in the cities of Aracaju, Itabaiana, Propriá, Simão Dias and Resort.
Billed as the second largest private institution of higher education in the Northeast, the University Tiradentes is the result of a project that began in March 1962 with the founding of the College Tiradentes, at Rua Laranjeiras, capital center. The school offered the first and second courses degrees and Pedagogical College and Accounting. Five years after the inauguration in the early hours of February 25, 1967, an eviction order seemed to end the Uchôa teacher's dream. But the difficulties were overcome. In 1969, the Tiradentes College won its own headquarters, on a plot bought the provision on the street Lizard. Here, the idea was born to deploy the first upper-level courses.
