The university was created by Andrés de Santa Cruz by Supreme Decree on 25 October 1830. Due to the commercial influence of La Paz, since its creation, the Higher University of San Andrés has influenced the social life and history of Bolivia. The university's history consists of three well-defined periods. The University of San Andrés, is an autonomous institution, responsible for the generation and dissemination of scientific knowledge, training of qualified professionals with proven quality and appreciation of ancestral knowledge to build a just society, developed, productive, inclusive and competitive local, regional and national levels.
