Khaiurn University was established on 15th August, 1964, and Became the first higher education institution (HEI) in the District of North Maluku. The university was registered a year after.The founding fathers were ranging from leaders of the region, a prominent figure in society and educational sectors at the moment.It was run under a presidium and chaired by the Head of the District of North Maluku at that time. Until the fifth Rector, the University was finally being enacted as a state university According to the Decree of the President No. 18 dated 17th of March, 2004.
