In 1976, the School of Health Management (presently the Hanoi School of Public Health) was established with an important duty to train health managers at different levels for the public health sector in Viet Nam.
In 1990, the Public Health Faculty was first established with participation of three constituents: the School of Health Management, the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology of Hanoi Medical University, and the Center of Health Workforce (presently Health Strategy and Policy Institute - HSPI). The Office of this Public Health Faculty was located at the School of Health Management. Also in 1990, the school joined the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH) with sufficient qualification of a Public Health institution at University level.
