The Educational Foundation of Joinville Region - FURJ is an entity of private law, non-profit, with didactic, scientific, administrative, financial and disciplinary autonomy, exercised according to the law and its bylaws, maintains the University of Joinville Region - Univille." Established in March 15, 1965, with the Faculty of Economics, who from 1969 was incorporated into the Joinville Education Foundation - FUNDAJE, established in 1967. In 1971, FUNDAJE changed its name to North University Foundation Santa Catarina - FUNC and, since 1977, Educational Foundation of Joinville Region - FURJ, current sponsor Univille (1996). Pioneer and contextualized, the FURJ brought higher education to the region and, through various initiatives, assisted in the development and sustainable community development.
