Gran Colombia University received its legal status the May 24, 1953, having been given the legal status of private non-profit, as it is until today.The government granted legal status by Resolution No. 47 of September 25, 1953, issued by the Ministry of Justice. It has official recognition from the Ministry of Education, through Decree No. 1297 of May 1964.
