State University of southern Manabi, is a Public Higher Education Institution created by Law No. 38 published in the Official Gazette No.261 of February 7, 2001, is based in the city of Jipijapa, Manabi province, constituted by the State as a legal non-profit, so without harming their constitutionally established autonomy, you must articulate its activities with the System of Higher Education and the National Development Plan. By its legal nature, the State University of Southern Manabi, direct its activities of teaching, research and links to society, to serve the people of southern Manabi and seek their services beyond the national context. Law Establishing the State University of Southern Manabi, recognizes it as part of the System of Higher Education of Ecuador; under which enjoys academic, administrative and financial autonomy, also does business as an institution of higher education in undergraduate and graduate, embodied in the character of university teaching institution, mandatory accountability and subject to the principles of co-government , equal opportunity, quality, relevance, integrity, self-determination for the production of thought and knowledge, within the dialogue of knowledge, universal thought and global technology scientific production.
