The Autonomous University of Chiapas ( UNACH ) is an institution public character college for the education superior, with headquarters in the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez , capital of Chiapas , Mexico . Apart from Tuxtla Gutierrez also has academic centers in Arriaga , Comitan , Pichucalco , San Cristobal de las Casas , Palenque, Copainalá, Tapachula and Villaflores . UNACH creation dates back to 1974, when at the initiative of Dr. Manuel Velasco Suarez, Governor of the State, the State Congress issued Decree No. 98, of September 28, 1974, published in the Government Gazette dated October 23 the same year, in which the organic law that gives rise to UNACH approved, but as of April 17, 1975 when formal activities begin.Due to the heterogeneity that presents the state and national policies to decentralize public administration, UNACH structure adopted by college campuses, located in major cities of the state. This decree was appropriated the function of existing high schools in the state.
