Stone Child College is a tribally-controlled community college of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, offering programs of study that can lead to degrees and certificates. Stone Child College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and is listed in the Accredited Institutions of Higher Education published by the American Council on Education for the Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation. Stone Child College was chartered by the Chippewa Cree Business Committee on May 17, 1984. It was the feeling of tribal leaders that the establishment of a college was necessary for the preservation and maintenance of the Chippewa-Cree culture, and for the educational training of its tribal membership.
