Any serious issues become clear from the Great East Japan Earthquake, which exposed the weaknesses of the most advanced information communications network in the world, with severing mobile phone and optical fiber lines so as to restrict the telecommunications services we needed. To solve these issues, Tohoku University's Disaster Reconstruction / Regional Regeneration Research Project includes an ICT Reconstruction Project for restoring information communication.
The Organization sets a goal on five-year basis and promotes research and development, aiming at the world's most advanced telecommunications research center. In the first phase, the Organization will focus on projects related to creative reconstruction declared by Tohoku University, and makes a contribution to practical use in about three to five years in general, simultaneously planning and promoting the state-of-the-art research with industry-academia-government collaboration. In the second phase, while continuing the reconstruction project, the Organization will focus on cutting-edge research projects to contribute to the creation of industries in information and communications, and electronics in our country.
