The Polish Air Force Academy - "The School of the Eaglets" - has changed its name, structure, and fields of study several times. The programs and methods of theoretical and practical aviation training in the air have changed. All the transformations were dictated by concern for the best execution of the tasks facing the academy.
The development of the academy can be distinguished by certain specific stages resulting from the demands and needs of our Air Force. Until September 1939, about 1,000 graduates had been promoted in Dęblin. They spread the name of the Dęblin Alma Mater with victories in international aviation competitions (challenges), the establishment of a number of aviation records, as well as their mastery, heroism and sacrifice in battles. In the mid-fifties, "The School of the Eaglets" started training cadets on jet aircrafts. Training required a change in the current instruction facilities, the modernisation and expansion of the school airport junction, and the modification of the flight protection and security systems.
