National Ilan University (NIU) is the only national institute of highest education in Lanyang Plain. NIU marked the highlight of this qualified promotion with projects to expedite high-level research and teaching capability for generations of new era. To foster passionate, enthusiastic and ongoing expansion of knowledge to scholarship, internationalization of NIU with a world-wide perspective has been a high-priority task for attaining higher-education in global communities. NIU (one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Taiwan) was formally founded in 1926 as Taiwan Provincial Ilan School of Agriculture and Forestry. Decades of preparation and recalls by the institute administration, the government and local residents of Ilan County has made the school promote from a five-year junior college (National Ilan Institute of Agriculture and Technology) to a polytechnic college (National Ilan Institute of Technology). As a center of quality education, NIU is now the only comprehensive national university in Northeast Taiwan offering BA, BS, MA, MS and PhD degrees. Under the 19th president Dr. George J. Jiang’s leading since 2006, NIU moves forward its ninth-decade founding anniversary for a new era.
