The Autonomous University of Sinaloa, although under various names in its 143 years of existence, has been a significant cultural and moral support of Sinaloa and northwestern Mexico.
It opened as the Liceo Rosales May 5, 1873, by decree of the liberal governor Eustaquio Buelna. The gallery of his notable students, teachers, researchers and illustrious graduates is prolonged Eustaquio Buelna Rafael Buelna Tenorio, L. Ruperto Paliza, Epitacio Osuna, Ramon Ponce de Leon, Bernardo J. Gastélum, Genaro Estrada, Solon Zabre Morell, Enrique Felix Castro, José Luis Ceceña Cervantes, among many others, had to do with this noble institution at various times in its history.As Rosales College, and in 1874 and was created following as the most important higher education institution and northwestern Sinaloa. In 1918 first he receives autonomy being University West. In 1965 renamed Autonomous University of Sinaloa.
